“St. Mary’s Community Health Centre Trust is a visionary initiative of the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, inspired and animated by Rev. Sr. Edilburga Monteiro. The institution was established with a noble mission to address the pressing healthcare needs of the rural and underserved population of H.D. Kote Taluk.
The humble beginnings of this health centre date back to 22nd June 2004, when it was founded under the dedicated leadership of Sr. Dr. Hilda Rita Lobo (MD, OBG) and Sr. Mary Mendonca, who served as the Administrator during the tenure of Rev. Sr. Jyothi Fernandes, then Provincial Superior of the Mysore Province.
What began as a modest healthcare unit functioning from a small room gradually expanded into an 80-bedded facility and has now evolved into a well-equipped 150-bedded multi-specialty hospital. This remarkable growth reflects the institution’s unwavering commitment to quality healthcare and community service.
Strategically located at the H.D. Kote Taluk Headquarters Township, the hospital serves as a vital healthcare hub, catering to the needs of more than 450 villages across H.D. Kote and Hunsur Taluks, as well as patients from neighboring districts of Karnataka.
