

VISIT TO CHITTADAMA SHANTIPURA
As a part of the Nursing curriculum on Tuesday, 12/12/2023 the 2nd and 3rd batch of B. Sc Nursing Students had a visit to CHITADHAMA-A Home for the Homeless belongs to Chittaprakasha Charitable Trust, at Shantipura H.D.Kote Taluk. The residential unit set up for the rehabilitation of homeless imamates with mental illness. A group of philanthropic professionals set up the unit in 2010, with support from corporate agencies, such as the Infosys Foundation, to care for the mentally ill individuals who have absconded from their homes, to rehabilitate them, and when better, to reunite them with their families.
Sir Mahadev oriented the students regarding institution and its foundation also activities and labour of love that CHITADHAMA is offering. There are about 25 residents in the unit; people who have been missing from their homes from all corners of India and beyond. These are usually picked up by the police from the roads and brought here for treatment and rehabilitation. It was an inspirational to see imamates engaged in the gardening, cleaning, grassing cow and many other activities. Also It was amazing to see the transformation in the physical and mental state of the inmates, Students enjoyed with inmates, by sharing their talents and communicating with them the students Ms. Chaitra, Ms. Trupthi and Mr. Manikanth also spoke about their experience of visiting the institution.
Our Vice Principal (Prof. Sandeepkumar) expressed the gratitude for availing the opportunity to visit and got a fruitful experience. We provided them cake and oranges to the imamates, staffs and workers there. The students got awareness about the mentally ill imamates. The way they are taken care by all the occupational and different kinds of recreational activities.
