

On 15th August, 2024 at 8:30Am, 78th Independence Day was celebrated at Saint Mary’s College of Nursing.
The Programme was anchored by Mrs. Agnes Wilma, 3rd batch B Sc Nursing students. The dignitaries present were Mr. Shabeer Hussian, Circle Inspector of H. D. Kote, Our Director Sr. Mary Mendonca, Administrator Sr. Arunakumari, Nursing Superintendent Sr. Navita, Principal Prof. Naveen Rasquinha, Vice Principal Prof. Sandeep Kumar, and Warden Sr. Thresiamma, all teaching and non-teaching staffs of our college and doctors and Staff Nurses of SMCHC. The program started with a brief introduction on the significance of the day By Mr. Simson J Sunny and The Director Sr. Mary Mendonca welcomed the chief guest. Mr. Shabeer Hussian by giving a flower bouquet.
The session began with a prayer song performed by B.Sc. Nursing students asking for God’s blessings. Mr. Shabeer Hussian, the Chief Guest Circle inspector of the H. D. Kote unit, then hoisted the national flag. Speaking to the assembly, the Chief Guest said, “On this day marking our country’s 78th anniversary of independence, we pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives defending our freedom and acknowledge the selfless work of our healthcare professionals who exemplify the values of compassion and service. On this particular occasion, SMCON B.Sc. Nursing students performed a patriotic dance and song. Sweets were distributed to everyone in attendance to round off the celebration.
