St Mary’s Community Health Centre is the dream child of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation then animated by Rev Sr Edilburga Monteiro to cater to the health needs of the remote villages of H D Kote Taluk. The humble beginning of this Health Centre dates back to 22 June 2004 with Sr Dr Hilda Rita Lobo (MD, OBG) and Sr Mary Mendonca as administrator during the tenure of Sr Jyothi Fernandes as Provincial Superior of Mysore Province. The health care unit that initiated with a small room, then a moderate structure of 80 beds now grown in decent facilities and specialities.
St Mary’s Community Health Centre situated at H D Kote Taluk Headquarters Township. It caters to the health needs of over 200 villages of HD Kote and Hunsur Taluk.
The hospital has been developed stage by stage that facilitates quality health care with more medical personnel including full time availability of obstetrician, pediatrician, specialized nurses, supportive staff and Collaborators. The facilities those available are OPD, OT, general wards, Pharmacy, X-ray, OBG Scan, day care, general wards and private rooms, Laboratory, NICU and Semi ICU at an affordable cost.
The hospital doesn’t limit itself to one place but extends in service to distant health centres located at remote villages by regular visits by doctors, outreach programmes and health camps. Practical Nurse training programme started from the very beginning of the institute in order to educate and equip the financially underprivileged but talented young girls in order to fetch steady income for their families that is the special feature of this centre. Thus trained nurses have found their safe haven at 5 multiple hospitals in and around Mysore, Priyapatana etc.
