Staff Development Program on Simulation-Based Education<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Srs. Aruna Kumari\u00a0and . Smitha D Souza\u00a0\u00a0along with colleagues from various regions of India, participated in the Training of Trainers (TOT) on Simulation-Based Education<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0from June 9 to June 14, 2025. Organized by the Indian Nursing Council<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0in collaboration with SGT University’s National Reference Simulation Centre (NRSC)<\/b><\/strong>\u2014a cutting-edge facility established in partnership with Jhpiego<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and Laerdal<\/b><\/strong>\u2014the program aimed to enhance the skills of nursing educators in simulation-based learning.<\/p>\n

The event, held in Gurugram, welcomed two nominees from each participating institute<\/b><\/strong>. The Director of NRSC, Ms. Anu Grover<\/b><\/strong>, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and participants. A total of 33 faculty members<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0from both government and private nursing institutes across Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, New Delhi, Karnataka, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and West Bengal<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0attended the training.<\/p>\n

Training Structure and Activities<\/b><\/strong><\/h3>\n

The six-day program<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0commenced with a pre-test<\/b><\/strong>, followed by presentations and interactive sessions<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0covering various key topics, including:<\/p>\n

  • The Circle of Learning<\/li>\n
  • Adult Learning Techniques<\/li>\n
  • Characteristics of an Effective Trainer<\/li>\n
  • Utilization of Checklists and OSCE<\/li>\n
  • Decision-Making in Nursing Education<\/li>\n
  • Introduction to Simulation-Based Education<\/li>\n
  • Video-Based Simulation & Case Studies(including clips from Grey\u2019s Anatomy)<\/li>\n
  • Concept, Scope, and Assumptions in Nursing Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Participants engaged in hands-on practice<\/b><\/strong>, applying checklists, OSCE methods, case studies, and advocacy inquiry techniques<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0in structured group activities. From Day 4 to Day 6<\/b><\/strong>, attendees conducted independent simulation sessions<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0under the guidance of NRSC trainers<\/b><\/strong>, fostering practical application of the concepts learned.<\/p>\n

    Program Conclusion and Feedback<\/b><\/strong><\/h3>\n

    The training concluded with a Valedictory Session<\/b><\/strong>, where participants reflected on their experience. Feedback collected during the session indicated high levels of appreciation<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0for the program, with attendees expressing confidence in implementing simulation methodologies<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0in their respective institutes.<\/p>\n

    This Training of Trainers (TOT) program<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0has empowered nursing educators with advanced techniques in simulation-based teaching, contributing to the overall enhancement of nursing education across India.\u00a0Certificates and copy of materials in pen drive were distributed to the participants by Director, Ms. Anu Grover and NRSC Team.<\/p>\n
