International Nurses day honors the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, who is the founder of modern nursing. which is a global celebration.
International Nurse’s Day was celebrated on 12th May 2023 at 10am at Saint Mary’s Hospital campus and Saint Mary’s College of Nursing premises. Rev. Sr. Santhan the Administrator of the Hospital lead a meaningful prayer service and sought the grace of God on all the nurses. fallowed by an inspirational speech by Dr. Ompriya (RMO) on the theme: Our Nurses. Our Future. She enthused the Nurses to be the central part of the healthcare system to provide high quality and safe patient care. Focusing on a “brighter” future of nursing and how the profession can help to improve global health for all. Ms. Uma and Ms. Shubhashree the staff nurses who completed 5 years of service in our hospital were felicitated as a mark of the significance of the day. At Saint Mary’s College of Nursing the SNA council members (2022-23) celebrated International Nurses Day in the college lobby to recognize the significance of multifaceted roles that nurses play in the healthcare system and in society at large.
The celebration commenced with a prayer song by Ms. Angel Amrutha and team fallowed by Lamp lighting ceremony and flowering the portrait of Florence Nightingale by the dignitaries of the day Rev. Sr Mary Mendonca the Director, Rev Sr. Aruna the Administrator CON , Prof Mr. Naveen Rasquinha the Principal CON, Prof Mr. Sandeep Kumar Vice Principal CON and Dr. Jyothi Fernandes the pediatrician and medical superintendent of St Mary’s Hospital was the chief guest of the day. She addressed the gathering on Nursing Profession invaluable contributions of nurses, promotes the nursing profession, and advocates for the well-being of nurses worldwide. It recognizes their dedication, compassion, and expertise in delivering quality healthcare services and shaping the future of healthcare.
Various competition and poster presentation were held for the students were very creative and innovative. Words of encouragements and appreciation to the nurses for the selfless service was acknowledged By Sr Aruna The Administrator. Sweets and gifts were distributed by the management to all the nursing faculties staff and students . the program was v beautiful the dignitaries. staffs students and and other staffs enjoyed well.
