The Lamp Lighting and oath-taking ceremony for the fifth batch of B.Sc Nursing students, along with the Graduation Ceremony for the inaugural batch of Saint Mary’s College of Nursing, was a truly memorable event. Esteemed dignitaries graced the occasion, including Sr. Dr. Annie M.A., the provincial superior and president of the trust; Chief Guest Dr. Dakshayini K.P., Principal of CSI Holdsworth Memorial College of Nursing, Mysuru; Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, the parish priest of St. Mary’s Church, Heggadadevankote; Rev. Sr. Jenifer Pinto, provincial councilor and coordinator for social and health apostolate; Rev. Sr. Philomena Nimmy, the superior of Sanjeevini Convent; Rev. Sr. Mary Mendonca, the director of the institute; Rev. Sr. Aruna Kumari, the administrator of the College of Nursing; Prof. Naveen Rasquinha, the Principal of the College of Nursing; and Prof. Sandeep Kumar, the Vice Principal of the College of Nursing. Proud parents of both the graduates and the newly enrolled nursing students also attended, adding warmth and joy to the atmosphere.
The Lamp Lighting ceremony paid tribute to the timeless legacy of Florence Nightingale, symbolizing compassion and unwavering dedication for the aspiring nurses. Meanwhile, the graduation ceremony highlighted the achievements and perseverance of the first-ever batch of graduates, marking their transition into the noble healthcare profession. Prof. Sandeep Kumar emphasized the significance of the day, while Chief Guest Dr. Dakshayini K.P. and President Sr. Dr. Annie M.A. inspired students with their motivational speeches.
The highlight of the event was the convocation of six inaugural batch students, a proud moment for the institute. Dignitaries, as well as the Principal, Prof. Naveen Rasquinha, were honored during the celebration. The college report for the academic year 2024-25 was also presented, showcasing the exceptional 100% success rate achieved by its students—a testament to their perseverance and the quality of education imparted.
It was truly a day of reflection, achievement, and inspiration for everyone involved. The celebrations concluded on a high note with a lively prize distribution ceremony. The moment of pride came with the announcement of the Best Outgoing Student of the Year 2020-2024, awarded to Ms. Aleena Prince for her exceptional academic achievements and all-round performances.
Adding to the excitement, after an intense and spirited competition, Team AMYTHYST emerged as the overall winners, earning admiration for their outstanding efforts. The event also featured a captivating tableau performed by the nursing students, beautifully portraying the nobility and selflessness of the nursing profession.
