The College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Hospital, organized an In-Service Education Programme on Biomedical Waste Management for all nursing students and staff. The programme aimed to enhance awareness, promote safe practices, and ensure compliance with biomedical waste handling protocols.
The sessions included lectures on waste categories, segregation methods, risks, and hospital practices, along with hands-on demonstrations of color-coded disposal, PPE usage, and safe handling of sharps. Interactive activities such as quizzes and role-plays reinforced learning.
The initiative successfully improved knowledge, skills, and compliance among participants, strengthening their commitment to patient safety, occupational health, and environmental responsibility. Overall, the programme was impactful in fostering professional accountability and sustainable healthcare practices.
